  • Leading Through Interdependence: Embodied Leadership for Educational Justice at UCEA 2026

What does it mean to lead educational systems through interdependence, healing, and collective responsibility? In this reflection, I share the acceptance of a Pre-Convention Workshop and Work Session at the 2026 UCEA Annual Convention in Pittsburgh titled Embodied Leadership and Collective Freedom: Bridge Conversations on Healing, Interdependence, and Educational Justice. The session explores embodied leadership as relational practice grounded in reflection, dialogue, and justice-centered transformation. It highlights how educational leadership is deepened when we create space for collective learning, shared humanity, and the ongoing work of educational equity.

Grounded in culturally responsive, asset-based, and healing-centered principles, the report highlights strategies for building relationship-centered school cultures, strengthening student voice, reducing exclusionary discipline, and creating learning environments where all students experience belonging, dignity, and opportunity. Read more about the report's findings and how restorative practices can help transform school communities.
